What to do in Holt?
In the House:
There is
Panasonic Viera 42" plasma TV with Freesat, DVD and VHS players, a large selection of videotapes, DVD's, novels and
board games. Wireless broadband. Pure DAB radio. There is also spectacular view out of the windows onto
the
garden.
In the Garden:
There, on almost 2 acres we have formal,
enclosed lawn to play on, ideal for ball games; through
to garden, where there are 5 chickens (3 of them are rescue hens) and
1 guinea pig. There is
also a large 16' trampoline with safety sides. There is also
barbeque and seating area next to the house. "Butterfly" Table
Tennis table.
Or, if you like gardening, we have a patch of soil where you can dig/plant/weed to your heart's content - just ask when booking.
In Holt:
Eating out: we are asked this question regularly, and
our usual answer is - we are spoilt for choice. Here is a list of a
few suggestions:

"Taste of India" The restaurant seems to be always full, but I
cannot offer any comment, as I have not been there for a very long
while;

"Sunny" - very nice.
Shopping: again, we are spoilt for choice here. One of the most commended shops is Bakers and Larners (known as Norfolk Harrods). There are many other attractive shops in Holt, be that fashion (our favourite is Oola Boola on the High Street), galleries, antiques and many other kinds.
Others worth noting: Holt steam train and friendly low-cost cycle hire.
Outside of Holt
Just across the road there is Spouts Common with a small stream, and a peaceful walk to Leatheringsett village, (~1.5miles), where there is superbly recently refurbished Kings Head family pub (do book places in advance, as it is very popular). The Pigs in Edgefield is another popular option (less than 5 minutes drive away). They won Country Pub of the Year 2010.To the south there is Holt Country Park, with large stretches of wood, and a couple of small ponds and a great children's playground.
Drive away:
Cley (Fish Smokery and Groceries) as well as art galleries and a wind swept pebble beach is 5 miles away,
Morston with seal trips to Blakeney Point is 10 miles away,
Holkham beach and estate is 15 miles away,
Cromer pier is 10 miles away,
Blickling Hall (National Trust) is 10 miles away,
Salthouseis 6 miles away, where they serve sea food platters at Cookie's Crab Shop, (this place should be kept a secret, really, because it is so good).
Norfolk Broads 20 miles away,
Sheringham Golf Club and Sheringham Park with superb rhododendron display in early summer and cycle hire are 8 miles away,
Sandringham estate is 18 miles away,
Norwich is 21 miles away,
Swimming pool and Gym, £5 per person is 10 minutes away by car,
Splash Tropical leisure family swimming pool with slides and wave machine is 8 miles away in Sheringham
Walsingham Shrine, an interdenominational world-famous place of religious pilgrimage is 10 minutes drive away.br /> Award winning Back To The Garden farm shop is a charming place to get some locally produced goodies.
